As one of the biggest recreational horse riding areas in Australia, it’s no surprise that Mansfield shares an intertwined history with horse racing. The area’s first documented race was a two day meeting held in 1855.

At this time, the races were held at what is now the Mansfield Botanic Park. The race meetings moved to new locations on a few occasions before the current land became available in 1928.
